Project Bayport Savings and Loans PLC is deepening her commitment to sustainable living and environmental stewardship through meaningful employee-led initiatives. On Wednesday, 12th November 2025, the organization hosted an impactful water preservation awareness programme at Presbyterian Senior High School, Teshie, led by dedicated volunteers from the Account Management Department and the Brands, Marketing and Communications Department.
The initiative is part of the BayVolunteerism Project, a structured, purpose-driven platform that empowers employees to champion positive change within their communities. This latest activity focused on equipping students with practical knowledge about water conservation and sustainable water use.
During the interactive session, volunteers educated students on the critical importance of preserving Ghana's limited freshwater supply and the consequences of waste, pollution, and poor water management practices. The presentation, delivered by Doris Adjorkor Boye, underscored the urgent need for responsible water usage at home, in school, and across
communities.
“Water sustains every form of life on the planet. Although nearly three-quarters of the Earth” surface is covered by water, only a small fraction is fresh water. When demand rises and
pollution increases, the little we have continues to shrink. Conserving water is not only an environmental duty. It is a moral responsibility to future generations," she emphasized.
Students learned simple, actionable ways to conserve water in their daily lives, including turning off taps while brushing teeth or washing hands, fixing leaks promptly, harvesting rainwater, reusing water where possible, washing with bowls instead of running taps, and using toilets responsibly. Volunteers also stressed the importance of spreading awareness to family, friends, and neighbors, noting that collective action is the most powerful tool in addressing water scarcity.
The BayVolunteerism Project continues to reflect Bayport's unwavering commitment to environmental sustainability and community empowerment. This initiative builds on the
organizations’ long-standing culture of giving back through clean-up exercises, blood donation drives, sanitation campaigns, and community support activities nationwide.
